About the 2009 Event

Our first annual MII Undergraduate Investment Conference was an overwhelming success. Michigan Interactive Investments hosted 17 of the nation's top universities to compete in the two-day conference for a $3,000 grand prize. Our keynote speaker, Michael Gelband of Millenium Management LLC, gave his insight on the current financial environment. Directly following the speech, a panel featuring the former chief economists of both GM and Freddie Mac spoke about the potential influence of Obama's economic policies. Speakers and participant were then invited to an evening networking dinner at Palio.

Sunday morning featured a panel debating the role of corporate social responsibility in corporate America. Afterward, judges watched the first round of stock pitches and BP gave students the opportunity to participate in a customized trading simulation. Later that afternoon Pennsylvania State University, University of Michigan, Villanova University, and Michigan State University competed in the final round of the stock pitch competition, resulting in Michigan State University earning first place finish and a grand prize of $3,000.
